About us

Our Story

For years, Surfari Pals’ creator Kip Cummings has had a vision to help teach kids good character skills. Our goal is to encourage, engage, and entertain them along the way.

About Kip Surfari

Growing up in Bell Gardens, California, a small suburb of East Los Angeles, one of Kip’s main influences in his life was a childhood neighbor named Monty Heistand. Monty helped teach the neighborhood kids good character skills and provided a place for everyone to call home.

Currently living in Shreveport, Louisiana – which is a long way from the sunny beaches of California – his characters help remind him of good times and fun days at the beach. Many of the Surfari Pals characters were developed through life lessons & personal experiences. Most of them are named after family and close friends.

Kip shares his life with his wife, Jennifer, and three children: Courtney, Quinn, Quinn’s wife Mallory, and Codi; and three stepchildren: Chris, Chris’ wife Kayla, Jessica, and Ryan. They also have their first grandbaby due in the summer of 2017.

Surf’s Up!

It is nice having Kip Surfari as a partner in parenting and trying to get our children to understand the true values instilled in us when we were kids. I think that a lot of times, nowadays, we are just missing that. It is being scratched off in the curriculum. But we really apreciate it and we love Surfari Pals. The Bledsoe Family

[Kip] grew up poor, so he can empathize with these kids. He’s been there. As you can see, he’s got a tremendous heart and so does Jennifer… The whole idea is to impart these traditional, timeless values in the kids when they’re little. They listen. They believe what you say when they are little. It gets into your heart and spirit and it becomes a habit and you live it out. I literally think that they are going to save some kids’ lives by doing this.Rick Rowe

Surfari Pals partners with Caddo Parish Title One elementary schools. We provide a character development program that is fun and interactive. The setting for our characters and lessons is the ocean and the beach! We pair cartooned ocean characters with real ocean animals to teach kids manners, soft skills, and character development, along with life long lessons such as goal setting and healthy interaction with people who live around them. Our long term goal is to build confident children who hold themselves to a high level of integrity and personal accountability.
